7 Underwear Mistakes You're Making & How To Fix Them ASAP

People seriously underestimate the power of underwear. While some choose to go commando, those who don't choose the au naturale route may be making some common mistakes that aren't doing your body or your fashion any favors. The mistakes you're making can range from ill-fitting underwear to wearing improper styles under clothing. While you may be thinking that you've got a firm grasp on the best underwear for your body type and personal style, these tips may be a little reminder of how the wide range of lingerie can be worn.

Here is the biggest thing to know — if you don't already. Underwear isn't just the granny panty or the G-string. Instead, there's underwear of every style for people of all shapes, sizes, and needs. Passionate arguments have been written in defense of the granny panty, and some underwear brands have even started making panties specifically for your period (which is particularly awesome, because let's be honest: we all have that one pair of period panties). There are also incredible brands creating ethical underwear for those seeking conscientious wares. Basically, there's an underwear option for all the common mistakes people may be making.

So what are the common underwear blunders you're committing, and how can you fix them?

1. Wearing Ill-Fitting Underwear

If your underwear is feeling saggy or the seams feel as if they're cutting into your thighs, there is a good chance your panties may not be fitting correctly. If this is the case, it's time to reevaluate your undies. Try seamless panties for a change that won't cut into your body.

2. Washing Undies Improperly

Your cotton panties and silk briefs are not going to require the same type of wash. While your cotton briefs can be thrown in the wash, silk undies require a soft hand wash with mild soap so that you don't strip the finish off your lingerie.

3. Creating Panty Lines

In order to prevent panty lines, try a seamless boyshort that sits right under your bum. If boyshorts aren't your thing, you can always try out the classic G-string.

4. Focusing On The Size

If your undies are feeling too tight and cutting into your skin, you probably already know. However, lots of people are hesitant to go up a size. Being comfortable and loving your body is always in style, so don't be afraid about bumping up your size.

5. Not Throwing Out Underwear

You may adore your favorite pair of cotton undies, but the truth is that they don't last forever. Sure, they may not have holes — yet — but they are wearing thin. Don't procrastinate in ditching old undies.

6. Not Treating Yourself

I'm going to be honest: It's super seldom that my undies match, because when rushing in the morning, it's more important to dig through my dryer to find clean pairs than to match them. So why not treat yourself and purchase a matching set (or two) perfect for when you're wanting to feel confident on a night out?

7. Having A Camel Toe

It's totally cool if you're snickering right now, but camel toe is a real issue! It's commonly caused by a lack of frontal coverage, so if you're rocking a pair of leggings, be sure to get a full-coverage panty.
