5 Ways to Get Even More Excited for Sex

Maybe the gray days of winter have rendered your libido a little lackluster lately. Maybe you're snowed in with nothing to do but have sex, and you need some extra help. Whatever your particular sex-drive conundrum, we hear these five easy and natural remedies will help you get amped up for some time between the sheets.

1. Cut back on the booze…
Of course a few drinks are an easy way to make first dates and bar flirting go more smoothly, but heavy drinking isn’t good for your sex drive. Alcohol is a depressant, which can kill your libido…so keep your alcohol consumption at a reasonable level.

2…Unless that booze is red wine
A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that women who drink red wine in moderation have a higher desire for sex, perhaps because of the positive effect red wine has on blood flow. What can we take away from this? Science thinks that you should drink more wine.

3. Get your exercise on
Working up a sweat is good for your sex drive because it helps improve blood flow to your sexual organs, says Health.com. But that’s not the only reason — when we work out we tend to feel good about ourselves, and anything that increases self-esteem will rev up your libido. Regular exercise is also good for your sex life because it increases endurance, energy level, mood, and feelings of desirability.

4. Take some time to relax
According to U.S. News, stress can kill your sex drive because it increases cortisol, a stress hormone that causes lust-stimulating testosterone’s levels to drastically decrease. Make some time to meditate, take a walk, or do yoga in order to relax and de-stress.

5. Eat these natural libido boosters
Though the legitimacy of aphrodisiacs is up for debate (check out Rebecca Santiago's test drive of eight supposed libido enhancers) the following foods are said to get you going:

Oysters: These aphrodisiacs also have high levels of zinc that helps your body produce testosterone, reports Cosmo.

Asparagus: Dr. Oz says that asparagus is “one of the best libido-boosting foods” because it contains lots of folate, which controls your body’s production of histamine, the chemical released during an orgasm.

Dark chocolate: Though chocolate doesn’t quite have the magical sexy power that was portrayed in “Down With Love” (side note: I never saw the movie, heard it was awful), Cosmo shared that chocolate does help release serotonin in your brain, which boosts your mood. Chocolate also happens to be an aphrodisiac, meaning that it can put you in the mood, and you will be happy about it.

In other words…time for some red wine and chocolate! At least until female Viagra happens.
